14 Aug 2004, 18:29alex i there a easy way to get people connecting to my server using my ip address. if so can u please say.
If people have Quest installed then it will accept qnet:// links. So if your IP address is 123.456.789.012 (I know that's not a valid address - this is an example) then just send them a link like:
qnet://123.456.789.012/
qnet://123.456.789.012/

15 Aug 2004, 13:09my problem is that it still uses my ip address and i dont want people using my ip address to accesss other parts of my computer later on
Your IP address is just numbers. You should take the usual sensible precautions, e.g. running a firewall and so on. Soembody Simply knowing your IP address should present security risk at all, and if it's only security you're relying on you're going to have serious problems.
And if you don't give out your IP address, how on earth would it be physically possible for anybody to connect to a QuestNet Server on your machine? It's kind of necessary.

Typing in the address re-directs you to the correct (and changing) IP address of the server?

Yep you can sign up for something like DynDNS at http://www.dyndns.org. However the address still resolves to your IP address, and is therefore just as secure (or insecure) as giving out your IP.
